Job description:
- Participate in Board meetings and help ensure effective governance in accordance with Portuguese regulations;
- Provide guidance on navigating the Portuguese regulatory landscape, including the EMI licensing process and ongoing compliance requirements;
- Oversee and coordinate the work of external legal counsel and accountants, ensuring that deadlines are met and that their work supports the licensing process and the company’s wider objectives;
- Complete forms and applications, and represent the company before the Bank of Portugal when required;
- Work closely with the management team to set and review strategic objectives, ensuring alignment with overall business goals;
- Offer constructive challenge and support to the executive team on key decisions and initiatives;
- Leverage your network in the Portuguese financial services industry to connect the company with potential customers, partners and investors;
- Fulfil fiduciary and legal duties as a company director, upholding high standards of corporate governance.
Requirements:
- Professional experience in finance, whether in banking, fintech or another financial institution;
- Management experience;
- Understanding of corporate governance principles and best practices within the Portuguese regulatory framework;
- University degree;
- Must be a resident of Portugal;
- Good English skills;
- Good Portuguese skills.
